Post Test Activity: Sexual vs Asexual Reproduction

Today in class we:

After you complete the "Quest" you should be working silently on the following activity:

Play with the Sexual vs Asexual Reproduction Applet

Activity:
  • Work through each of the organisms presented on the applet. Guess whether the species reproduce sexually, asexually, or both
  • Once you are given the correct answer record it in a venn diagram. The left bubble should be the sexually reproducing species and the right diagram should be the asexually reproducing species. The center overlap should contain organisms which use both methods of reproduction
  • Record what patterns you observe. Are there any commonalities or similarities between the organisms in one bubble? You should use your observations and may wish to bring in outside sources of information to develop a sophisticated response.
  • Once all have completed the "Quest" we will discuss our observations as a class.
